A petition calling upon Rains County commissioners to deny applications in Rains County as these farms and facilities have been shown to contain toxic heavy metals, emit dirty electricity which has been shown to be harmful in human and animal studies, pose hazardous fire risk, vulnerability to cyber security and lower property values. Solar farms produce high amounts of DC energy which increases fire risk due to the amount of energy concentrated.  Solar farms are leased by foreign entities on American land and decrease property values.  Recent evidence has been published of Chinese communication devices in Chinese made solar inverters integrated into the grid and undocumented cellular radios found in multiple Chinese made batteries used in storage facilities. These rogue components provide additional communication channels that could allow firewalls to be circumvented remotely, switch off inverters remotely, or change their settings, which could destabilize power grids, damage energy infrastructure, and trigger widespread blackouts, with potentially catastrophic consequences. The conversion from DC solar to AC grid is complex due to the need to precisely match the grid frequency and phasing in order to contribute to the grid.  So many of these solar farms produce energy during the day when there is an oversupply, so a bigger hazard is when there is on-site battery storage.  This changes the hazard profile to people, land, animals and water with the toxic gases that can be emitted to the neighborhood.  Battery storage facilities are not regulated nor require proper permits and increase the risk of fire and firefighters would employ firefighting foam which is an environmental toxin.  There have already been 50 of these fires in the past 5 years.  Experts in environmental medicine recommend anyone living within a quarter mile of battery storage facilities have protective respiratory gear.  By adding batteries, the runtime of the solar farm will continue through the night also disrupting wildlife.
